If you have to hide indoors all summer because you
seem to be a magnet for mosquitoes, here's something
to consider: if you take Kyolic odorless
garlic, 600 milligrams per tablet, two tablets each

Bothered by mosquitoes
during the night? If you prefer a non-chemical
solution, you might be surprised to learn that by
pointing an electric fan at your face while you
sleep will keep those little pests from landing on
your body.
Rather than use
chemical weed products that saturate the ground with
toxic ingredients, why not get rid of dandelions and
other pesky weeds using boiling water? I
recently read that pouring hot water over weeds will
kill them and allow them to easily be removed.
It works! My front walkway is completely weed
free and all it took was three pots of boiling water
and very little elbow grease.

"Skin Care and Repair" says, "Sunscreen and sun
block are not the same.
Sun block,
which is opaque, blocks almost all of the sun’s UVA
and UVB rays. It consists largely of zinc oxide and
titanium dioxide. Sun block does not have to be
reapplied every few hours.
Sunscreens
are less visible on the skin and are designed to
protect against UVA, UVB or both types of
ultraviolet rays. However, they do allow some
radiation through and need to be reapplied every few
hours, because their ingredients break down after
exposure to sunlight. If you use sunscreen, choose
one with a high SPF, apply generously and reapply
every two to three hours."
Tick Removal
I had a pediatrician tell me what she
believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it
works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with
tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair,
etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick
with the soap-soaked cotton ball and let it stay on the repulsive
insect for a few seconds (15-20), after which the tick will come out
on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was
frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier
for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this
would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me
for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't
reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called
